MEDITATIVE AND HEALING CONCERT

HILDEGARD VON BINGEN’S SACRED SONGS – DEDICATED TO THE VIRGIN MARY

Maud Gnidzaz - Solo voice / a cappella chant

Hildegard von Bingen (1098–1179), proclaimed a Doctor of the Church by Pope Benedict XVI, was an extraordinary figure of the Middle Ages: mystic, Benedictine abbess, healer, composer and visionary.

Her spiritual message, rooted in deep harmony with creation, the care of body and soul, and the dignity of every human being, continues to resonate today with renewed strength and relevance.

During the meditative concert held on 21 November in Venice, Maud Gnidzaz will perform Hildegard’s sacred monodies dedicated to the Virgin Mary in a contemplative setting, creating a space for silence, prayer and deep listening.

According to Hildegard, music possesses a healing power: like plants, certain melodies can restore balance to the whole being – body, soul and spirit. The chants will be interspersed with moments of silence, encouraging inner integration and an opening of the heart.

The event will take place during the Festa della Salute, in harmony with its profound meaning of devotion and gratitude.

This year, the Vatican Pavilion at the Venice Biennale highlights the figure of Hildegard von Bingen, reaffirming the contemporary relevance of her thought at the intersection of spirituality, art and our relationship with the living world. This renewed dialogue resonates with the Forum’s concert, which is part of the same quest for listening, harmony and inner transformation.
